PhoneFerry
Built for people who mainly move photos and videos, but need every folder sometimes. Photos open as thumbnails, transfers can be cancelled at any time, and nothing on the phone is deleted unless you ask. It adds Wi-Fi transfer, automatic import and backup. Sold only on the Mac App Store, so it runs in Apple's sandbox.
MacDroid
Mounts the phone as a drive in Finder, so you work with your usual Finder windows. Offers MTP and a faster ADB mode. The free version is limited; the PRO version is a yearly or lifetime purchase and covers up to five Macs.
OpenMTP
Free and open source, with a two-pane browser and support for files over 4 GB. The issue tracker shows common requests such as a cancel button, resume and shift-click selection, and reports of devices not being recognised on new macOS versions.
